Definitely worth the time and money to read.Grant Morrison did an ambitious run on New X-Men, but that story had to be walked back in the interests of continuing it in on-going mainstream superhero comics. This book is full of adventures, surprises, and drama. It was a perfect depiction of Whedon's storytelling. Hmm.who could that be? *revealed in issue #12*Īnd for the artwork: ASTONISHING!! The facial expressions, costumes, and coloring were just totally astonishing! It never felt rushed or half-a**ed.

And at the end of issue #6, Emma Frost is talking to an unseen character. Beast's interest to the cure was interesting and made you sitting on the edge of your seat to see if he'll take the cure. But don't get me wrong, every X-Man in this story has an equally fair amount of attention. Her reaction to the resurrection of an X-Man thought dead was very emotional and amazing. It seems as though this soryline focuses on Kitty Pryde, which is unusual. Nevertheless, he's still the Wolverine and does the best at what he does. We finally get a break of Logan being the big heroine and stuff. And Logan is actually not the main character in the story, which is a good thing. <3 I loved tension of him and Emma's relationship. Scott, my all time favorite hero, is still depicted as the great leader he's always been. Whedon stays true to the characters and continuity as well. This story arc comes with full of surprises, emotion, and funnyness. Lockheed, Pryde's alien-dragon friend, came in with an awesome entrance and saved the night! 'Hell, I think we should make him team leader,' Wolverine quoted.

I loved the brief battle among the X-Men and Ord. Miss Frost and Kitty Pryde's constant bickering and tension were realistic as well as funny. And some of the dialogue Emma says made me question where her true loyalties are. 'Maybe I should just kill her,' Emma Frost said. The X-Men react to this 'cure' as offensive. Kavito Rao and a mysterious alien named Ord of the Breakworld, who has a lot to do with an X-Man thought dead. Their main purpose is to become superheroes again and just to help out in the community. They get rid of their older costumes in Morrison's New X-Men and replace them with updated versions of their older 70's costumes. Scott Summers and Emma Frost reform the X-Men teaming up with Kitty Pryde, Logan, and Dr. This is a continuation of Morrison's New X-Men storyline. The Astonishing X-Men: Gifted arc is truly astonishing.
